I recently completed Ancora’s CDL program at APSU. The course was focused on preparing students to pass the CDL exam and be safe, responsible drivers. Wow! Awesome experience! Every teacher has a different way of teaching, and each student can learn in a way that’s most effective for them. The instructors were very patient, even offering extra time during the week on days when we didn’t have class. Ancora’s instructors actually want all of us to pass and have a successful career, just wonderful! They were all so respectful and encouraging. I was really impressed with the amount of time we spent hands-on. The instructors took time to assess our individual weaknesses so we can each focus on what’s actually going to help us pass the DMV test. It feels like no one can slide under the radar: if you show up to class, you’re going to work. My classmates and I showed up on day 1 shy, intimidated, and overwhelmed, and we were transformed into patient, confident truckers! The weeks flew by, and now I feel set up for success. Thank you!

Steven, C.C., and Keith were all top-notch instructors. C.C. spent 150+ hours in the trucks with students, patiently giving feedback and and proving fantastic service. Steven spent a ton of time on pre-trip training, offering suggestions and going well above the call of duty to make sure NO ONE was left behind and everyone had as many chances as the next person, regardless of their background. We even got to chat with recruiters, who were amazing. A+++!

All the instructors for the CDL program were so amazing and very thorough. They definitely helped so much. I had Mr. DJ take me for my test at DMV, and he was very supportive throughout the whole thing, from the moment I got in the truck with him to go to the DMV to the moment we got back to CVCC. My name is Tameka Allen, and I attended Ancora’s CDL program through Tidewater Community College. Before this class, I spent 20 years working in healthcare, so this has been a complete career change for me.

I’m writing to let you know that Steve, my class instructor, IS A GEM! Starting out, I was nervous. During the middle of learning, I was nervous. At the end, I was still nervous BUT because of Steve’s encouragement and support, my anxiety remained in check. It didn’t matter how many questions we asked, how we asked them, or even if the question had already been asked. Steve was always patient and made sure we all understood that topic completely. He was so caring, calm, and supportive. I wish he could be cloned!

The class was really challenging at times, and I doubted myself a lot, but Steve eased my uncertainty. He even made himself available over the weekend to answer my questions and ease my nervousness. This is a man that knows how to talk to students and give them the comfort that they need to succeed.

I also want to acknowledge Keith, Rick, and Ty, our other instructors. While I only worked with Ty for one day, I wanted to give him a shoutout because of the impact that he made on me in that short period. Ty, Keith, and Rick were just as encouraging and patient as Steve was. I really want Ancora to know how valuable these employees are. Thank you for hiring them and giving them the opportunity to change lives. Ancora is so lucky to have instructors as great as these gentlemen were!
