- Gas stations would start to run out of fuel in 1-2 days
- Manufacturing lines would shut down within hours

There is a growing discussion around autonomous, or self-driving, trucks and whether they could eventually replace licensed commercial drivers. However, much of that conversation appears to be driven more by enthusiasm surrounding emerging technology than by the practical realities of the industry. Autonomous vehicle technology still faces significant safety and reliability challenges, and public skepticism remains high. Research from AAA found that two-thirds of American drivers fear riding in or sharing the road with autonomous vehicles.
At this point, there is little evidence suggesting truck drivers will be replaced anytime soon. Most industry experts expect commercial drivers to continue working alongside increasingly advanced safety and efficiency technologies rather than being replaced by them entirely.
